WHITE MARIGOLD (VANILLA)
F1 Hybrid of Marigold offers varied colours, more flowers and greater vigour than most conventional types. These hybrids were developed especially for home gardens and they flower in most climates.
Prepare the sowing medium by mixing sieved leaf mould and fine sand in equal proportion. Place gthe medium in a shallow wooden tray or clay pot and press it uniformly. Make a o.5 cm groove using a wooden stick. Spray fungicide solution (1 gram per litre of water) till the medium is completely drenched. Sow the seeds thinly in the groove and spray water. After sowing, cover the seeds with find sand.
Cover the wooden tray tightly with a polythene sheet and place a newspaper sheet over it. No further watering is necessary. The seeds take about 5-7 days to germinate. As soon as you see that they are germinating, remove the cover and expose the seedlings to partial shade, otherwise seedlings will not grow. You can resume watering the seedlings.
Keep the wooden tray in open sun gradually. After 3-4 weeks, the seedlings will be ready for transplanting to a pot. 2 weeks after transplanting, drench with Fungicide solution ( 1 gram per litre of water). After about 3 weeks of transplanting, the seedlings will be ready either to go to flower beds or bigger pots.
