Select well drained medium to heavy soil, after ploughing apply stn of FYM

Seed Treatment-rate of timing/ chemical

Seeds are treated with Carbendazim 2g + Thiram 2 g per Kg of seeds.

Sowing Time

Summer, Rabi, Kharif (as per variety recommendation)

Seed Rate/ Sowing method- line sowing with row to row and plant to plant distance/ direct sowing

Seed Rate: 100-120 g per acre.

Sowing: Sow the seeds in nursery, after 21 days, seedlings will get ready for transplant

Spacing: 60 x 30 cm

Fertilizer dose with timing

Total N:P:K requirement @ 80:100:120 kg per acre.

Dose & Timing:

Basal Dose: Apply 50% N and 100% P, K as basal dose during final land preparation.

Top Dressing: 25% N at 20 days after sowing and 25% N at 35 days after sowing

Weed Control- Chemicals with doses and timing

Timely weed removal is very important, need based hand weeding can be done to ensure healthy crop.

2 rounds of weeding is sufficient.

Diseases & Pest control- Chemicals with doses and timing

Apply insecticides as per recommendation. In summer, crop must be protected from DBM, Advised preventive sprays for leaf eating caterpillars.

Irrigation Schedule

Irrigation Frequency Depends upon -

Soil type: Light soils & summer season need more frequency.

Pre transplanting: Irrigation advised in summer, 2nd day after transplanting a light running irrigation is suggested.

Harvesting

Depending upon variety and season, cabbages generally matures within 65-75 days after transplanting. Once the head become compact, it is harvested. Harvesting done by applying pre-harvest irrigation along with 3-4 lower leaves.

Expected Yield of the variety

Average yield: 18 – 20 MT /acre (depending on season and cultural practice)
