The beet curly top virus is transmitted by beet leafhopper, Circulifer tenellus. The virus infect many weed plants and act as a source of inoculum for the next cropping season.
The infected leaves become a dwarf, crinkle and rolled upward and inward. The veins become irregularly swollen on the lower surface. The diseased beet shows discoloration of the vascular tissue.
