• Pusa Basmati 1847 is a scientifically improved Basmati paddy variety released by ICAR-IARI in 2021.
• Developed from Pusa Basmati 1509 through Molecular Marker Assisted Breeding, it delivers all the premium Basmati grain qualities of PB-1509 while adding powerful genetic resistance to Bacterial Blight and Blast disease.

Specifications

• High-yielding Basmati variety with seed-to-seed maturity of typically120 days.
• Semi-dwarf, non-lodging, non-shattering and high-yielding plant structure.
• Carries two bacterial blight resistance genes (xa13, Xa21) and two blast resistance genes (Pi54, Pi2).
• MAS-derived near-isogenic line (NIL) of the popular short-duration Pusa Basmati 1509.
• Grains are extra-long slender (8.51 mm) with excellent kernel elongation on cooking (16.69 mm).
• Cooked rice has flaky appearance, tenderness, desirable taste and optimum aroma.
