Basta 15 SL is a non-selective, post emergent herbicide recommended for the control of perennial weeds in plantations like tea. The product is very versatile and effective under different climatic conditions. Since Basta 15 SL acts by contact action it is safer to the crops than other non-selective herbicides. It exhibits better efficacy against certain hard-tokill weed species which are not controlled by conventional products currently being used by tea growers.
Mode of Action :
Glutamine synthetase is the enzyme which catalyses the reaction of ammonia (NH ) and glutamic acid to form 3 glutamine. Ammonia results from nitrate reduction, amino acid metabolism, and photorespiration. Glufosinateammonium inhibits the enzyme's activity. This leads to the accumulation of NH 3 in the cell. As NH is strongly phytotoxic, the affected cells die. This is 3 macroscopically manifested in necrotic spots and finally withering of plant.
Wilting of a treated mixed weed community may start within 24 hours in the tropics, or only after 8 days in cool continental spring or autumn temperatures.

- Novel herbicide with low dosage- It requires very low dose to attain highly satisfactory and consistent results. Depending on weed intensity, only 200 mL of Adora is required per hectare to control major weeds.
- It is compatible with other plant protection chemicals including carbamates and organophosphate insecticides without any adverse effect on rice.
Recommendations for Use:
Basta 15 SL is to be used @ 2.5 to 3.3 litre per hectare as post emergent herbicide. It is to be applied when weeds are in active vegetative growth stage/flowering stage with a spray shield to prevent drift on the tea plants.
