Phomopsis blight is serious and major problem in brinjal cultivation. Phomopsis blight occurs at the seedling stage as well as after transplanting. Young seedlings collapse and die. Small circular to irregular brown spot on the leaves. Leaves turn yellow and drop off. Stems show dark brown lesions which girdle, topple and leads to death of young plants. The most important symptom is seen of fruits, with light brown sunken spots which expand, coalesce and cover entire fruits. Fruits become soft, decay, rot.
