Asia: vegetable production hub!

Global vegetable production is around 261 million tons, which is around 20% of global food grain production().But, out of this, 225 million tons is produced in Asia itself. Considering the fact that Asia has half of global population, Asian countries produce ( and consume ?) more vegetables than their counter parts in other continents. Vegetable production of Asia is around 70 Kg/yr/capita, as compared to global production of 40 Kg/yr/capita. Karnataka govt providing tabs with agri. software for updates on crops

Karnataka government is now providing e-kisaan tablets to farmers in districts of Bijapura and Bagalkote, which are having Internet connectivity, to get an update on crops. This information was given by Karnataka minister for planning & statistics, IT, BT, science and technology S R Patil while addressing the recently-held Bangalore India Bio 2015, which focussed on bio-agriculture.A software on agriculture will be operational on these tablets providing information on farm management and yield data and field mapping.
